I’ve got my malaria tablets, is that enough?
So you’ve got your tablets sorted, that’s enough to avoid malaria right? Unfortunately not.
The NHS recommend an ABCD approach to preventing malaria.
A for Awareness of risk – speak to a medical professional about whether you are at risk.
B for Bite prevention – avoid mosquito bites by using insect repellent, covering your arms and legs, and using a mosquito net.
C for Check if you have the right tablets –and make sure you have the correct dosage, and finish the course.
D for Diagnosis – seek immediate medical advice if you have malaria symptoms, including up to a year after you return from travelling.
